  After release, mercury continues to circulate through the environment 
 

   

Mercury exposure can cause

  • Tremors
  • Loss of memory
  • Reduced ability to think and learn
  • Loss of coordination
  • Changes in personality
  • Loss of vision, and hearing

Children are particularly sensitive to the harmful effects of mercury on the brain and nervous system.

 

   

Avoid breathing mercury

 

 

Do not fish in water with mercury contamination.

Large fish that live from eating other fish present the greatest danger; especially during pregnancy.

 

   

Do not handle mercury without gloves.
